SBI to recruit 10,500 staff this fiscal

State Bank of India has said it will recruit about 10,500 employees during the current financial year to manage the growing business of the bank.

"This year, the bank would make 9,500 clerical level appointments and nearly 1,000 probationary officers to be inducted," SBI chairman Pratip Chaudhuri said here last evening.

The process would be completed by Dussehra, he added. According to the annual report of SBI, overall staff strength declined by 7,452 employees during the last fiscal.

As on March 31, 2012, the bank had a total permanent staff strength of 2,15,481, which included 80,404 officers, 95,715 clerical staff and the remaining 39,362 were sub-staff.

In 2011-12, SBI's net profit rose by about 42 per cent to Rs 11,707 crore -- one of highest net profits earned by a corporate in the country.

SBI enjoys leadership positions in the retail car loan financing and home loan businesses and its retail advances grew 10.9 per cent to Rs 1,82,427 crore in the year ended March 31, 2012.

It commanded 26 per cent market share in home loan and 17.51 per cent market share in car loan financing last year.

Referring to the ongoing merger process of associate banks with the SBI, Chaudhuri said it will be done in a gradual manner.

Presently, there are five associate banks of SBI. These are State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Bikaner and State Bank of Travancore.

Eligible candidates, who are holding a valid IBPS CWE-CLERK-2011-12 Score Card with the scores stipulated in this advertisement, are requested to apply ON-LINE through Bank’s website www.canarabank.com. No other means / mode of Application will be accepted.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

The selection for the post of Probationary Clerks for each State / Union Territory is on the basis of Score obtained in stipulated CWE for Clerks + Group Discussion + Interview. Proficiency [i.e. read, write & speak] in Official Language of the State / UT for which the candidate has applied, will be tested during GD and marks will be awarded for the same.

The GD and Interview will be held at the identified centres. The list of centres will be made available in the on-line application.

Depending upon the number of vacancies in each State / Union Territory, the Bank reserves the right to shortlist requisite number of candidates based on the CWE score, academics of the candidates, as decided by the Bank and only those shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The centre & address of the venue, time & date for Group Discussion and Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter and candidates have to attend for the same at their own cost. The details of shortlisted candidates for Group Discussion and Interview will be hosted in our website.  Request for change of Centre will not be entertained. However, the Bank reserves its right to change/add/cancel the date, time, centre, venue of the Group Discussion and / or Interview and to call the candidates for the Group Discussion and / or Interview at any other Centre or hold supplementary selection process for particular date / session / venue / centre / set of candidates at its discretion, under unforeseen circumstances, if any.

The total marks allotted for Group Discussion and for Interview are 100 each. Candidates have to secure minimum marks as decided by the Bank at each level of selection process and those candidates only will be considered for preparation of final rank lists.

For each State / Union Territory, the final rank lists shall be prepared on the basis of TWS scores obtained by the candidates in the stipulated CWE for Clerks + Group Discussion + Interview, with the following weightage;

The final selection for the post of Probationary Clerk is on the basis of rank lists drawn based on the Total Marks calculated as above (out of 100 marks) for each State / Union Territory.

Mere eligibility / admission to the GD / Interview / pass in GD / Interview does not imply that the Bank is satisfied beyond doubt about the candidates’ eligibility and shall not vest any right in a candidate for selection. The Bank would be free to reject the candidature of any candidate at any stage of the recruitment process, if he / she is found to be ineligible and / or furnished incorrect or false information / certificates / documents or has suppressed any material facts and the fees paid by the ineligible candidates shall be forfeited. If appointed, such a candidate may be summarily removed from the services of the Bank.

The Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure / hold supplementary selection process, if necessary. The change, if any, shall be intimated to the candidates through our website / email in advance.
